Deeply Adored!

There is nothing like the holidays that make me feel truly blessed! I also feel so "Deeply Adored!" Yes, this is a play on words as I am finally showcasing the new MAC lipstick, Deeply Adored, from the MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection. I am also happy to be back to blogging and hopefully I am here to stay. Today, I tried my new lipstick, which I absolutely love. I love it more than my MAC Ruby Woo. The color is not as bright as the Ruby Woo and I think this is why I like it so much. The application was smooth and the product is creamy, which is perfect for me. What I love more than any of my makeup and other worldly possessions is my wonderful husband who adores me so much that he is my photographer! Thanks! So, without further adoo, here is my FOTD which will be followed by my OOTD!

Summer Sunset

Good evening my lovelies!! As the sunsets on summer fun, I wanted to share this introduction to a Fall look that I created at work. The inspiration of this look was coined as a "Sunrise" by my office mate as I was wearing a really cute striped t-shirt with fall colors (e.g., pink, burnt orange, and a mustard yellow). I did not get a chance to model the actual outfit for this look, so please look forward to a future re-do!

I will also be chronicling my new hair-do! I recently decided to do the big chop with my hair. At first, the plan was to just take off all of the relaxer, dead hair, and to repair the major damage done (the horrible breakage to certain sections of my hair)! I was frightened at first, but once the hair came off thanks to a beautician from my past ( and much discussion with family, friends, and co-workers who were vey supportive, also the many Facebook sites dedicated to natual divas), I realized how refreshing, empowering, and invigorating this experience has been. So in my posts, you shall see me rocking new haircessories and earrings to help play up this new style adventure for myself!!

I do apologize for being absent for long spurts, as I seem to only produce posts about once a month. I work full-time, am a full-time parent to two busy little girls, and also trying attain my last advanced degree. I am a PhD student and my children and studies do come first; however, I am taking  a six month hiatus from classes and hope to share more inspirational looks, whether it be makeup, clothing, or just something out of the blue with you all. After all, that is what makes this blog Unique Fash'N'Spirations!!! Love you all!

Saying I Do to MAC Ruby Woo

I am in love with a new MAC color. Definitely a color I would have never tried in a million years but since I purchased it and tried it on (for the first time today), I am in love with it. MAC Ruby Woo is a Retro Matte Vintage Throwback. A color that Gwen Stefani rocks! Definitely works with a variety of skin tones. I did not think that it would work with my skin tone. My most favorite feature is that the color makes my teeth look extra white! Gotta love that added feature. I love the way the color goes on to my lips. I usually add a gloss to add shine but I really like how the matte color is muted (not too bright or shiny). I think if I were to go out on the town, I would definitely add a clear lip gloss (or of course, a MAC Lipglass).

theBalm

Today, I am reviewing two items that I picked up from an awesome HauteLook sale. theBalm! What a cute name for some cute products?! The lipstick comes in a cute silver bullet-tube and the image on the box is such cutest parallel to the Bond films. The hue of this lipstick is called "Anita Boytoy!" Such a fitting name for the color. The shadow is called Overshadow in the shade of "you buy, I'll fly." It's golden and shimmery tone is perfect for summer time, day or night! So here I share my face of the day or better known as:

FOTD:

 Details

Eyes:
1. Too Faced Shadow Insurance (Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer)
2. MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist
3. Urban Decay shadow in Suspect
4. theBalm Overshadow in "you buy, i'll fly"
5. eyeko london Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Face:
1. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NW 50

Lips:
1. MAC Lip Pencil in Magenta
2. theBalm Lipstick in "Anita Boytoy"

Pros: Overall I love the entire look. The Overshadow by theBalm is amazing by itself or over a eye primer. What I found out today is that this Overshadow is super awesome with the eye-primer and the MAC paint pot as a base. It really made the golden shimmer POP!! Also, I love the lipstick but...

Cons: the lipstick does not stay. I used the lip pencil to line the lips and colored in over the lips just a little bit. The color does not settle well and it does not stay too long. Even though I find this to be a negative, I still love the color and I will be purchasing more from theBalm really soon!

Thanks for reading my lovelies! Until next time!!

Hey HauteLookin', Whatcha got Cookin'!

HauteLook! Excellent website to purchase high end treasures for quite the affordable price tag. This will be the first of many reviews (however, I must admit that I have purchased from this site before but have never posted a review, as I was not a beauty blogger at that time).

If you have not been to the site, check it out at www.hautelook.com. This place is phenomenal. I have purchased NYX, clothing for myself and my two young daughters, and now, even more make-up! I am excited to talk about Stila today. Before I do, I am sharing the items that I purchased. Here they are:

This was an awesome treasure to find. These sets were $10 a piece (retail value $66 per set). Each set comes with three tubes of one step primecolor set. Yes, I bought two sets because one set is warm colors and the other set is cool colors.

The warm  set includes these colors: Bronze Babe, Per Suede, and Rosie Posie.

The cool set includes these colors: Capri Coral, Kitten, and Pop of Pink

For this review, I chose to wear Capri Coral and share with you the look I created with this particular color! Here goes nothing!!

What I enjoy about the color, Capri Coral, is that it is natural, yet subtle coloring for my darker skin tone. I did not want to look overdone, especially since I was wearing a dress that is orange/silver striped. I love how smooth it was to put it on and it did not go on all thick and gunky! Nothing worse then feeling like you have on heavy make-up.

I used the Capri Coral on my lips (along with Sugar lip treatment in rose), on my cheeks, and on my lids (with just a hint of Loreal Infallible shadow in Amber Rush on my lower lid).

In my best Hannibal voice from the A-Team: "I love it when a plan comes together!"

Ok, last but not least in my review of HauteLook. I received something in my package from my Stila purchase that I did not expect. When I opened the box, I was like, they must have mailed me the wrong package and just before preparing the packaged to be sent back, I found my items underneath this awesome gift set:

This nice sample set is a gift to my wonderful husband for putting up with my antics (and shopaholic status). Plus, since it is a shaving set from The Art of Shaving, I figured he could try something new in his shaving routine!

So, I know that there is more HauteLook in my future! I am already expecting two more packages (one of them will be a future blog post, the other, well, that is just to add to my make-up bag). So to all the beautiful dolls out there, here's to shopping at HauteLook!!

Love you all!!!

No Pain, No Gain!!

Ok, so I thought was going to try  something cool! I thought it was going to be a much simpler way to remove unwanted body hair! Well, this does remove body hair. I first used the product on my legs with the help of my wonderful older sister. With the first pull and tug, rip, went away the hair. The first rip made me think of that song...you all know the one I'm talking about!!

No pain [No pain], no pain [No pain]
No gain [No gain], no
No pain [No pain], no pain [No pain]
No gain [No gain]
Yes, that's right, that song by Betty Wright! That is all I could think about! Painful! Ooch!! Ouch!! Why do us women go through all of the trouble just remove unwanted, undesirable hair! My mother sat on the couch and was listing to me scream in horror. She just laughed and stated, "it sounds like surgery is going on in this house." My nine year old daughter had that look of OMG, I want a turn at ripping off the wax strip from my mother's leg. My two year old (three on Wednesday) held her hands to her ears and kept asking if I was okay! Gotta love my kids! Next was the....

Dreaded Va-Jay-Jay:

The next day, I decided to continue my horror adventure. The Va-Jay-Jay was next. With the help of my husband, we attempted to tackle this venture together. The worst part, my husband (while I could the look of horror in his face) helped me out and started to get into ripping the hair straight off of my Va-Jay-Jay! He is the only individual I would let around that area to even do such a horrible thing. I must say, as wonderful as this product works, I will not do this again. I will stick to the depilatory creams such as Nair!

I also used this wonderful product on my leg hair! While it did work wonders, it did not get rid of all of my unwanted leg hair.

Bottom line! This product is fantastic and is quite simple and easy to use. I broke the cardinal rule of not having hair between 2-5mm, so next, I will try it the way it is printed on the box. When it comes the no-no spot, the 2-5mm rule works wonders. After the first two attempts, my husband decided to help me with a little trim and we tried again and it was a little more comfortable to take. However, I have a very low threshold for pain, whereas by husband can tolerate quite a bit. All-in-all, I will stick to facial waxing with waxing strips. I will leave my nether regions to other types of hair-removal!!

Purchase location: More than likely this can be purchased at major retailers. I purchased this at Target for the low price of $8.99. You receive 40 strips (20 double strips) and six wipes to remove the excess wax. Happy waxing!!!!

What I want for Mother's Day is this!

OK, so Mother's Day is coming up! I would really love to have one of those special spa day packages for $99 (worth $300). Those packages are wonderful! I had one for my birthday a few years ago and I was able to share that wonderful experience with my sister, two champagne glasses, and an excellent bottle of Asti! But what I really, truly want is this:

This beautiful, patent leather, blue, large Coach purse! I had to share this Fash'N'Spiration with my peoples! Oh, Mother's Day, will you make my wish come true!! Will my husband and children come through for me! If not, this is a gift that I will get myself before the end of this year!!

Hugs and Kisses to my fans!!

Welcome to Spring

Well, I guess Spring started on March 22, 2012, but my Spring style just entered the season due to weather and other issues (that I shall not discuss at this time)! Better late than never, right?!  Here is a taste of my Spring style.

I love this dress! This is a tulip cut dress that I purchased around Springtime last year. I love the flowers and the color. This screams Spring to me! I paired this dress with some red flats with ruching detail in the back. I have a pair of natural colored shoes that appear to be a mix of burlap with light colored straps. Since those pair of heels were open-toed and the weather was much cooler today than it has been the last few days, I decided to go with the flats. The important pieces of clothing I am wearing here are my foundation garments underneath. I learned about these wonderful foundation pieces from another wonderful fashionista by the name of Chastity Garner and her inspirational book, The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style! I try to live by the rules of this book and it has been an inspiration to me and my fashion future! Back to my outfit! This dress is beautiful but without those undergarments, it would have been less flattering. Thank goodness for my foundation pieces.

To add a little sass to this outfit, I wore a gold-plated leaf wrist cuff bracelet. There is nothing to add to this statement. It was an excellent statement piece and I love it to pieces!!

Just for fun, I wanted to add my newly acquired Kate Spade sunglasses. This was a fun piece to the outfit, as you can tell, I was ecstatic!

Today's outfit brought to you by:

Dress: ASOS
Earring: unknown brand
Shoes: Mossimo at Target
Bracelet: Gold-plated leaf cuff bracelet purchased from www.copious.com
Sunglasses: Kate Spade Over sized Sunglasses purchased from www.copious.com

Last but not least is my makeup! This is my first picture post of the phrased coined: Face Of The Day (FOTD)!

Today's makeup brought to you buy:

Too Faced Primer all over eyelid
MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist on the lower lid (base)
Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Rides Again as highlight on brow bone
Urban Decay Smog on crease and upper lid area

Urban Decay Kush on inner eye lid
MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder (eyeliner, top and bottom)
Urban Decay Big Fatty Waterproof Mascara

Thank you to my work BFF, M.C. for her support and inspiration! Also, she took all of the photos today for this blog. If it were not for her encouragement, this blog may not have been born!! Thanks M.C.!!!
