Golden Tote Review: May 2014

 

 

 

I have once again found a new way to shop! I went out on a limb, because you cannot always find what you need online. The way Golden Tote works is the creators offer customers an adorable tote filled with a few items of clothing at up to 80% off of the original retail price. At this time, Golden Tote come in two purchase options, the $49 tote which offers two to three items, or the $149 tote which offers five to seven items. In the $49 tote, you get to pick the first item, and you are surprised with either one or two additional items. In the $149 tote, you get to pick two items, and you are surprised with either three to four additional items. I am reviewing the $49 tote I purchased for the month of May 2014.

 

1. This is the cute tote the items came in. I received the item I chose, and one additional surprise item. I was a little disappointed because I was hoping to receive a three item bag. Hopefully I will for June 2014. The bag is extremely cute and sturdy. It's cream colored with gold lettering, which goes with the entire Golden Tote name. I love the tote and it does come in handy for those who are eco-friendly. I can use this bag and any other additional totes to start carrying my small groceries in, so that I can skip plastic bags! I love it!





 

2. So, I chose the beaded skater skirt! What I like about the item you chose, is that Golden Tote gives you a suggested  way to style the outfit. So, after this picture, I will show you how I planned to style the outfit, as I had not yet found a place to debut this look!

 

3. This is how I chose to style my beaded skater skirt. I just love the color patterns in this skirt. I am a person who really enjoys colors, and I have a lot of color in my clothing arsenal. I believe fashion is a way of expressing yourself, and expressing yourself is a form of art. I chose to style this outfit with a plain white t-shirt, to keep it sort of casual since the skirt has so much color. Next, are the shoes, which are white with studded crosses. I love these shoes. I purchased these shoes from ShoeDazzle a little while back. What you can't see on these shoes are the heel, which are silver. I went with simple jewelry. White heart earrings, a gold necklace with a rhinestone shoe, and a gold bracelet with a rhinestone shoe. The necklace and bracelet were also purchased from ShoeDazzle. I love this outfit pairing!

 

 4. This top was my surprise piece. I was able to wear this piece out to dinner while vacationing with my family at the Pechanga RV Resort in Temecula, CA. I recently read a review about Golden Tote and saw someone had received this same piece, and it was described as a dress. Because I am so tall, this hit well above my knees, almost mid-thigh, so this is a tunic for me. I paired this with some denim joggers purchased from ASOS and a necklace and earring set purchased from www.freejewelry.com. I loved this dress/tunic. It was super soft and comfortable.

 

Overall thoughts:

 

My overall thoughts of Golden Tote is that this is an amazing company. The creators also design some of the items, which the above dress/tunic, was one of their creations. The downside is that the sizes only go up to a 12/14. I actually wear a larger size than this and I was pleasantly surprised that both pieces fit me perfectly without me wearing foundation undergarments (i.e., spanks, waist cinchers, etc.). So it is either one of two things, the items sizes run a little bigger than tagged, or I have been losing a little bit of weight. Or it can totally be the measurements and the way the garments are cut. I'm going to chalk it up to me losing a little weight. Either way, I love what Golden Tote is doing, and what they have to offer. Wantable Subscription Box Review: Makeup Edition

Welcome to my world of subscription services! Wantable is a subscription services, which not only provides you choices of makeup, but also a choice to receive a box of jewelry or intimates. It is your choice! The Wantable box is a subscription based services which provides you will premium full sized products. The monthly cost is $36 or you can choose to skip the subscription and purchase a one time box at a cost of $40. This review is of the makeup box, which I received for $1! I know, crazy, right?! I received the $1 offer from a Facebook ad. Who could pass that up? Not, I! So, I splurged! Lol!

 

So here we go!!!

 

 1. This is what the box looked like when I received it in the mail. So small and cute, right?!

 

2.  This is what I saw when I opened the box! Packaged especially for me! This was a nice touch! You also see this cute little slip which says, "ENJOY EVERY MOMENT." Loved this touch too! Next, when you flip over the strip of paper, there is a cute little quote. Mine said, "When a woman says, 'I have nothing to wear!' what she really means is, 'There's nothing here for whom for I'm supposed to be today.'" Caitlin Moran.

 

3. This is the layout of the products in the box. As you can, I received a blush, a lipstick, a mascara, and something in a damask bag! I did not take pictures of what was in the damask bag, but this product is the Eleece Illuminous Hydrating Face Mask. This product retails for $30.00 The next few pictures will show you the makeup products I used to create my final look below!  

 

 4. La Bella Donna Mineral Light Lip Color Sand Pink. The retail value of this lipstick alone is $24.50. At first, I was not sure of the color. It looks pretty in the tube, but once I put it on, I was like, I think this is going to be too light. So, I added a little lip liner, in Brandy Wine by Wet n Wild. The final look will be below. Pros: the lipstick application was smooth and soft. Cons: the only con for me was the color once applied.

 

5. (PI_) Beauty Cheeky Blush Pink a Boo. This color looked very bright when I opened it up, but after applying, I absolutely love this color. This is now my most absolute favorite blush. My new go to blush! I have nothing negative to say about this blush! It is long wearing and beautiful! You'll see it below! This blush retails for $22.00.

 

6.  Mirabella Neon Muse Dual Mascara! This mascara is really cool! It's just what it says, it has dual tips. One side is neon blue and the other side is neon green. I have nothing bad to say about this product either. I loved it! I used the neon blue on the look I created below. This mascara retails for $30.00

As you can tell, I really loved the makeup products! For a $36 monthly subscription, it looks like a great deal. The average total cost for all products in this box came out to $106.50. So, for $36, you would save about $70.50 over retail! That is an awesome savings! I love makeup and subscription boxes, but I am going to have to slow down a little bit. The other awesome thing about Wantable is that if you want to skip the month, you can, without being charged, and you can pick back up the next time you may want to purchase. You can always cancel at any time. I do not plan to cancel, but I like the idea of skipping if I don't have the room in my budget or don't feel like getting a box for the month! Influenster GoVoxBox Review

Hello loves! I have been a member of Influenster for quite some time now and this is my third VoxBox for review! As part of the Influenster team, I must share that these products were received complimentary from Influenster for review purposes. With that being said, let me get down to reviewing each of the products received in the GoVoxBox! 

 

1. ProFoot Triad Orthotic and the ProFoot Pedi-Rock

 Let me start off by saying these two products are amazing. The ProFoot Triad Orthotic was awesome. The size was just a little too small for me, as I wear a size 11 in shoes, but I made them work. I immediately felt a difference in my feet. They were soft and comfortable. The added support was great for me because I have been experiencing some pain and discomfort in my back and legs. While this did not eliminate my problem (I have medical issues), it did help to relieve some of the added pressure. The Pedi-Rock, was also amazing. It is soft and flexible. Definitely different from your average pumice stone, this product does what is claims it is supposed to do, which is to gently remove callouses and dry skin! I loved these products.

 

 2. Playtex Sport Fresh Balance

I am not a big fan of this product. No, not because I oppose tampons. It is because I do not have regular periods, so I was unable to review this product. What I do like about the packaging and what the product will provide those who use it is al ightly scented tampon with odor shield, which is designed to neutralize odors. I believe this is helpful during that time of the month when you know, we are not feeling as fresh as we feel we should! I will more than likely be giving this product to my sister.

 

3. Aqua Spa Bath Soak in Lavender + Chamomile

 

When I think of lavender and chamomile, I think of relaxation and sleep. While this product does not necessarily cause you to sleep, the smells can help you feel more calm and relaxed. My only issue, I don't take baths! Ew gross! I know what you're thinking. I take showers everyday! My bathtub is a little too small for my tastes, so I shower, but this did not stop me from a nice, gentle, calming foot soak. This product used in conjunction with the ProFoot Pedi-Rock did ah-mazing things to my feet! So, if you like taking baths, and have a nice bathtub at home, this product is a must!

 

4. the Vitamin Shoppe's Next Step shaker cup and Fit N' Full Shakes 

The shaker cup is unique! While designed like most shaker cups, the little ball in the middle to mix the product, well, is not quite a ball. Do you remember playing jacks as a child, well, the thing in the middle looks like a bigger version of a jack and it's purple. Other than that, the cup works just like the rest of the shaker cups, you put the powder product in, mix it with your milk, water, soy milk, almond milk, or whatever liquid you like to mix your products with, shake it, and drink it. The shake flavors I received were Swiss Chocolate, French Vanilla, and a Berry flavor. All of the flavors were yummy and delicious. Swiss Chocolate was the only powder that mixed well with water.  I would mix the other two products with unsweetened almond milk (only because I am a huge fan of almond milk). You can mix them with whatever you want. I would say the Swiss Chocolate was my favorite flavor and the French Vanilla was my least favorite flavor. Other than that, the protein powders would make for an excellent meal replacement if you are looking to shed a few pounds. The Next Step protein shakes are part of a weight loss supplement for those individuals who are looking for a quick and easy way to shed a few pounds and replace a  meal or two with these supplements. I personally like these protein powders. I have been using the FitMiss protein powders as well, and don't get me wrong, I like those as well, but I felt that the Next Step protein powders had a little more calories in them and staved off my hunger just a little bit longer than the other brand. I will continue to use the FitMiss protein powders in my dieting regimen, but I am not opposed to using the Next Step Fit N' Full shakes either! Happy dieting!!

5. Blue Diamond Almonds, Blueberry Oven Roasted Almonds

Not much to say about these almonds other than, DELICIOUS! I never would have thought I would enjoy blueberry flavored almonds. I love almonds! I do not care for blueberries too much! But, this combination was right on for Blue Diamond! I was a little sad when I finished the bag! I will definitely be purchasing these in the future!

 

Alright my loves, this was my review of my Influenster GoVoxBox! Once again, all products were received complimentary from Influenster for review purposes!

 

I had fun reviewing this box. The Playtex Sport tampons were the only products that did not receive a review, only because, well, you know, you read what I had to say earlier in the post. This box was great! All products are usable for the person who is always on the go, such as myself. I am a busy mother of two busy daughter's, so the shakes and the shaker cup help me to get my breakfast while running out the door to get them to school. The orthotics really helped me out when my back and my leg pain is almost unbearable. The almonds, well, they were a great mid-morning snack. The Pedi-Rock and bath soak, great for when I return home after a long day at work and of being a busy mommy!
